My dearest girls,
It has been awhile since I last wrote. Things have been pretty busy for us. We wrapped up Avaleigh’s first tee ball season, we are in the middle of swimming lessons, and we are getting ready for a Lindley’s birthday party tomorrow. After that, we have a family vacation coming up to Branson….just Nana, Uncle D, Mom, y’all, and me. I can’t wait.
I just completed my first year on the new job…the one that I wrote about previously. It was a pretty solid year, but I now find myself in a precarious situation. There is someone who, ultimately, isn’t happy with something that happened a couple of years ago and I am catching the brunt of the blow.
As you grow, you will encounter people who are being very mean spirited and ugly. How will you handle situations as these? Let me tell you what I am trying (with an emphasis on trying) to do.
When you are being attacked, you should always put on the armor of God. Stand your ground, be truthful, and stand firm in your belief (Ephesians 6:10-18). However, part of that is being compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patience (Colossians 3:18).
You don’t have to be push around. You can be kind and firm at the same time. You don’t have to be weak. Here is what I will tell you, though…know that help is on the way or is already there. Our God is always present. Rest in that, by trying to do what is right and would make God proud, you are going to be ok.
As for those who attack you, there is no reason to respond. Most people say that karma always come back around. It isn’t karma, it is God’s rule (read that last verse of Colossians).
Life is full of challenges. One of my many weaknesses is that I try to take it on all by myself. You don’t have to do that. You have your mother and me…but you always have God with you. Talk to him. Pray to him. Seek out his advice through the word.
He will never fail you.
I love you forever….
Daddy
