Girls,
I’m going to vent for a second and I want you to imagine me wagging my finger in your face. That is exactly what I would be doing if you were here….
Show up. Show up every damn day. Life is full of challenges and you can’t be a chicken and hide. Don’t sit there and cry. Get up off your ass and show up.
Life is hard. Your job is going to be hard. I’m surrounded by people everyday who are taking on tough challenges and look life’s challenges in their face and spit in it. Don’t be a punk. Fight like hell.
I sit in this office, day after day, and I’m eating Tums like skittles. I get sick, I worry, and I am afraid I might fail. But I show up each damn day to take on another challenge. I work with people who had cancer, who lost loved ones, who went through difficult challegenes with their family, and they keep doing their job.
If you sign up for a job, THEN DO IT! Don’t complain about it. The world is full of people who feel sorry for themselves and they aren’t going to be shit. STAND UP AND SHOW UP. You get knocked down, you get fired, so what? GET UP and do it, again.
The job you get is the one you deserve. The contract you have now is because of the job you completed. The contract you get next will be because of the job you are doing, now. Don’t like being average? MAKE DECISIONS AND DO THINGS THAT AREN’T AVERAGE. YOU ARE WHAT YOU LET YOURSELF BE!
Unhappy? Your decision.
Sick of life? Your decision.
Fat? Your decision.
Pregnant? Your decision.
Bad grades? Your decision.
Not staring on your sports team? Your decision.
You can change all of these things. Make better decisions. But if you sign your name to the line to do something, show up.
Those who don’t never will earn respect.
I love you and I refuse to let you grow up to be a shithead. I love you too much to watch you do things like what I have written about. I hope you understand.
Love,
Dad
