There is an assumption about life….that life can be easy.
Let me be the first to tell you that life can be easy.
Let me be the first to tell you that life can be hard. It can be very hard…just follow me on this.
There are very few things that you will do that will be easy. Let’s think about the things that are easy. You can play video games, sit around and do nothing, hang out with friends, kill time, watch TV, party, sit and look at social media, or play on your phone. It is easy to not have a job, to not make a commitment to improvement, being dishonest. These are some other things that can make life easy. Here is what you need to do…examine what that “easy” ends up getting you.
Nothing. Not a dang thing.
Let’s flip that coin and talk about the things that are hard. Making a commitment to a person or a profession…and truly being all in. Learning to put in extra time, reading books to learn more, earning a degree, getting an advanced degree, learning a trade and working to become good, behind honest, having goals and ambition to work your way up the ladder, giving everything you have to be successful….the time on the clock or the hours you have worked during that day not mattering. Learning to walk with God, learning to live the life of a Christian, learning to turn away from sin….that is even harder.
What you MUST understand about life is that the “easy path” isn’t hard. It also leads you to terrible results and a life that ends up being hard.
Doing right and trying to do what matters is the hardest route you can take.
Read this and let it sink in…think about it each day you live.
When you do hard things, you have an easier life. When you do easy things, you have a harder life.
It is hard to get out there and do right.
It is hard to get out there and have the kind of career that allows you have some freedom in life.
It is hard to learn to put in a lot of hours. It is hard to sacrifice. It is hard to choose to stay behind and work on your craft while your friends are out having a good time.
It is easy to go just go home when you want to go. It is easy to not put in extra hours or extra work. It is easy. But it is going to be hard to be broke. It is going to be hard to deal with your regret. It is going to be hard to reconcile all of the wasted time you just let go by in your life.
Do you know what you can learn from this? You can either have make easy choices that are going to lead to a hard life….or you can do hard things which will lead to an easier life.
Sounds like an easy to decision…but it is hard to execute that choice.
Choose HARD. Then follow-through.
I love you both.
